Hmmm...interesting development

Hello all. So to start with I have not yet made any money online. That's after reading all ten lessons from cover to cover and attempting to recreate the techniques shown by Robert.

So I have to ask myself why am I not making any money. I have purchased the course and initially started following it every week, then suddenly the depth of the content increased and the money making horizon has started to move further and further away. To summarise why I think I have not made any money is:

• The course is not current and is copyright in 2009.
• The pace of the course is not sufficient to manage each lesson within a week
• The course has been written by someone who has built up the techniques over a few years and then just put this knowledge into the lessons. There are no products / websites given as examples of live products he is making money from now - therefore no live examples to take inspiration from.

So do I think this course is a con....hmm not really. The information in the lessons is factually correct in the respect of the copyright year and there are no false promises on what is achievable. What Robert has sold is the dream of earning the big bucks. He is a cracking salesman.

What really surprised (and annoyed me) was that on the day after I was sent lesson 10, I received an email from him saying that he had decided to extend the mentor programme and there was another 10 lessons available. So I initially thought thats fantastic as it may have up to date information and would be a welcome way to get motivated back into the lessons. But when I clicked the links to register I was sent to a payment screen for another £97.

Really confused. So he sold the initial lessons which were meant to contain all the information and suddenly another 10 lessons are available. I feel a bit annoyed about this as this email was sent immediately after lesson 10 and he didnt even seek any feedback.its almost that he knew people would not have made any money.

So if I did sign up for another 10 lessons, what would happen after lesson 20 - another 10 lessons possibly??

So I ignored the sales email and strangely enough today I received another email from Robert Evans giving me a last opportunity to get the course at 50% off at £47.

Based on this latest communication I cannot help but feel conned. I started these lessons with the belief that it was possible to make money online and I still believe that. But is Robert Evans just making money off selling the course and the extensions...is he just selling a dream...quite possibly.

Evidence to back this up....I have made no money yet followed the lessons. The time commitment (for me as a techical user) is more than initially told at 1 hour per day.

So whats next..do I implement the lessons to try and make money. Or do I adapt and take a new approach.......

A much needed update

Well it has been almost 1 month since I last posted on this blog about Robert Evans course. For a couple of weeks I was away on holiday but I have also been struggling with the course itself.

Below are some points on how I feel about the course so far....

After reading about Robert before purchasing the course I was intrigued about how he done it and I feel that it was a very slow start as the learning curve is immense. I am very technical minded and able but have issues with the course delivery.

Getting 1 lesson each week delivered from an autoresponder is very robotic - I liken it to every time I shop in my local Sainsburys where every time they ask me "Do you have a Nectar Card?" Not personal and said because they have to. Getting the lesson delivered into my inbox each week has actually acted as a demotivator, as it will remind me what I have yet to do from the previous lesson.

The length of the lessons and required work is also quite varied and initially I was sold this course as something that would take about 1 hour per day to complete - so 7 hours per week. In the first few weeks I was spending more time than that and that is difficult to absorb in the early (non money making days).

I have also had concerns about the copyright date being 2009 - the internet changes rapidly and techniques used 3 years ago may not work now - so the question is do I continue using this old advice in the hope that it works - or do I not waste the time and effort doing so.

Lack of supporting evidence. The ebooks that were once sold and spoken about highly are not found by an ebay search so it is hard to validate any claims. I ignore extracts of bank statements as they can be photoshop edited. What is needed is some live sites that have worked and are continuing to work. That way the theory can be represented in reality. At the moment it feels like the evidence is in the convincing text of the sales copy.

Creativity takes time. Being a qualified designer to come up with new concepts using the theory and principles in the lessons can take some time and to cram those into a week is limiting the creativity and hence limited the idea. Most people like me who take this course will have full time jobs and this will be done in the evenings and weekends.

So what next.. Lesson 9 has just arrived in my inbox and am still working on Lesson 3 and Lesson 4. I have started to build a website with the advice given and a few more tweaks required.

I am not the sort of person to give up, but at the moment feel very deflated and demotivated. Given there is no other supporting evidence that the course works should that be enough to want to continue or stop. Is the course simply selling a dream which all makes sense but the reality in implementing it is much different....

A frustrating week and a moan..

So here I am currently in week 5 of the course and I will be truthful in saying that it has been frustrating. What wasn't clear when I was looking at the course and details on it was the time commitment that was required. For someone such as myself who is very internet savvy it is not the technical aspects on following the instructions in the lessons, more so the marketing side. I am finding I am spending more time researching into the various methods and finding which platforms / software to use rather than adding value to generate sales.

It is not the course content which is causing my frustration but the learning curve.

So I have almost finished lesson 3 (yes 2 weeks behind) and Lesson 5 rolled into my inbox this afternoon. Now I have not even looked at that email yet as my priority is to get the site I created as part of Lesson 3 up and running. I like to do things properly and not rush them as I want to ensure what I have online is unique and original - unlike some sites which clearly have been put together very quickly.

So I mentioned a moan and here it is. I am finding myself being put under time pressures to get the lessons completed within a week before the next one pops up. I would have liked the option to get all the lessons at one time and then followed them. I would also like to have seen how long to spend on each section to ensure I am not spending more time than necessary on perhaps a section which is not really going to increase my sales.

So by the time of my next post I will share with you my endeavours...

Week 3 - a busy week

So as I have just completed week 3 of the course I am starting to realise that the time commitment each week is greater than 1 hour per day. There is a lot of content to absorb and research to do online within the lessons.

I got a reply from the email I sent rob. It was regarding the relevance of the course and how the google panda and penguin methods would impact any results. He replied in a very friendly and professionally way and stated that his course does not endorse or promote black hat methods so therefore would not be punished by the updates.

So to update on progress I am in the process of building the website for my niche. The domain has been purchased, plr purchased and edited and now to get the graphics sorted before I go live!

Week 2 - Progress Made and a Lesson Learnt

So Lesson 2 was a lot more work that I imagined and definitely a step up in terms of workload from Lesson 1. The slight thing that is concerning me at the moment is that all the Lessons are Copyright in 2009 and worries me that the content may not be relevant or work today. To back up my concerns has been the recent Google Panda and Penguin updates which have really stirred up the search engine algorithms and has been punishing low quality sites with no unique content. That is what concerns me with PLR is that it is low quality as it is widely available in the public domain. I will send an email to Robert voicing my concerns as noted above and update you on any reply.

So the last week I have been busy buying a domain name, selecting autoresponder software, and selected my niche. But I have learnt a lesson. The ebook which I purchased was fully edited and I added a new cover and rebranded it. I decided to put it for sale on the Amazon Kindle website and it got blocked. It turns out that Amazon scan the whole book for copyright breaches and copy in the public domain and block these books from being published. This is rightly so in their business to do this to protect the customer experience. This hasn't put me off on my journey to financial freedom - I was expecting some lessons along the way!

Lesson 3 has landed in my inbox so will get onto reading that shortly and keep you informed!

Week 2 - Work In Progress

Quite a busy week this week. A lot to take on board from lesson 2 which included creating a sales letter, squeeze page and finding a product to sell. I have managed to find a product which I believe is a very popular niche from my research so I purchased the Master Resale rights for these and have edited the book (within the license terms) and included a new front cover. So the book is currently publishing for direct sale on the Amazon Kindle and the sales website will be live within the next few days.

At the moment I will keep the niche and website a secret until it is up and running and I get my first customer!

So far I have spent £97 for the course and approx £30 on the ebook plus editing and cover designing. At the moment I have no revenue so I will need to up my game by increasing my product range and getting my email list on the increase!

Week 2 - The Lesson

After reading Lesson 1 and completing my homework, I as expected received Lesson 2 yesterday which I assume was sent via an autoresponder software. The lesson is quite a large one which comprises on 53 pages.

This is a short post while I digest the lesson and start "the doing" part and putting the theory into practice...I'll let you know how im getting on in a couple of days...
